Identify the trimmer before the cleaning method
Copy the full model number from the unit or packaging and match it to the manufacturer's instruction booklet. Do not use the appearance of the handle or the brand name alone. A product range can include different head assemblies and cleaning requirements.

Separate the parts on your checklist
Write down the body, cutting head, guide combs, any detail attachment, charging stand, and power supply. For each, note whether the manual says to brush, wipe, rinse, or leave it dry. Mark an unanswered item as unknown rather than extending a washability claim from another part.
Check how the head is removed and reattached. Do not confuse removing an attachment with dismantling its blade assembly, springs, or drive parts. Follow the release procedure for your own model and stop if parts do not move as described.
Disconnect power and remove loose hair as directed

Read any washability symbols alongside the manual's wording. Confirm whether water is permitted on the detached head only or on the assembled unit, and whether the charger must remain separate. Check lubrication separately from cleaning
Find out whether your blade needs oil, which oil is specified, and where it goes. Do not use beard oil as a substitute simply because it is nearby. Also avoid borrowing a drop count from a different cutting assembly.
